This section increases the maximum SBA guaranteed amount for a 7(a) loan to $7.5 million (from $3.75 million), or if the gross loan amount would exceed $10 million (from $5 million). This section increases maximum loan amounts under the Small Business Administration's (SBA's) section 502 direct loan program—which provides loans to certified development companies for small business plant acquisition, construction, conversion, or expansion—as follows: (1) to $10 million (from $5 million) for each small business concern if the loan proceeds are not directed toward specified goals or projects; (2) to $10 million (from $5 million) for each small business concern if directed toward public policy goals under section 695(d)(3); (3) to $10 million (from $5.5 million) for each small manufacturer project; (4) to $10 million (from $5.5 million) for each project reducing energy consumption by at least 10%; and (5) to $10 million (from $5.5 million) for each project generating renewable energy or fuels (e.g., biodiesel or ethanol).
