This section requires the Secret Service to record all communications between agents deployed for the protection of persons specified in 18 U.S.C. 3056(a). Such recordings must be deleted no earlier than 90 days after creation, except that they must be retained for at least 18 months upon request by any of the following committees: (1) the House and Senate Committees on Appropriations; (2) the House and Senate Committees on the Judiciary; (3) the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability; or (4) the House Committee on Homeland Security or the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. In the event of an attempt to harm or actual harm to a protectee, the recordings must be made available to those committees upon request.
