H.R. 4556 — Protect Our TEETH Act

This section requires the EPA Administrator, prior to publishing a proposed national primary drinking water regulation to establish a maximum contaminant level goal (MCLG) for fluoride or to specify a maximum contaminant level (MCL) for fluoride, to (1) seek an agreement with the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine for a rapid response evidence review completed in 90 to 180 days, (2) provide the Academies with all data and information justifying the proposed rule, and (3) consider the review results. The section further requires publication of the full final review report in the Federal Register with the proposed rule and authorizes use of existing EPA funds. (National primary drinking water regulations under the Safe Drinking Water Act establish health-based MCLGs and enforceable MCLs for contaminants in public water systems.)
