H.R. 4647 — Captain Paul W. Bud Bucha VA Medical Center Act of 2025

This section sets forth congressional findings recognizing Paul W. “Bud” Bucha (1943–2024) as a Medal of Honor recipient for heroism leading Company D, 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, near Phuoc Vinh, Vietnam, on March 16–18, 1968; his West Point graduation in 1965, service with the 101st Airborne Division, resignation from the Army in 1972, advocacy for veterans including through service organizations and the Department of Labor, efforts to destigmatize post-traumatic stress, and receipt of care at the Department of Veterans Affairs medical center in West Haven, Connecticut, prior to his death from Alzheimer’s disease complications on July 31, 2024.

This section designates the Department of Veterans Affairs medical center in West Haven, Connecticut—or any successor facility—as the Captain Paul W. “Bud” Bucha Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center (or the Captain Paul W. “Bud” Bucha VA Medical Center). Any reference to that facility in federal law, regulations, maps, documents, or records is deemed a reference to the Captain Paul W. “Bud” Bucha VA Medical Center.
