H.R. 4883 — Local Gun Violence Reduction Act

This section requires the Secretary of Health and Human Services, acting through the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, to establish and maintain a searchable database not later than one year after enactment, in which state and local government units enter information on their gun violence prevention laws and ordinances—including jurisdiction size, enactment and effective dates, and gun violence and gun death rates before and after implementation. The Secretary must conduct outreach to encourage state and local government participation and submit biennial reports to Congress beginning two years after enactment that specify the number of submissions received, common topics addressed, reportedly successful laws or ordinances, and geographic participation levels. The section authorizes appropriations of $1.5 million for FY2026 and $1 million for FY2027 and each fiscal year thereafter.
