H.R. 4997 — Modernize Diplomatic Security Training Act

This section establishes mandatory counterintelligence training, provided by the Department of State's Office of Counterintelligence, for Diplomatic Security special agents (authorized under 22 U.S.C. 2709 to conduct investigations into passport and visa fraud, identity theft, and related offenses, as well as to perform protective functions for diplomats and foreign officials) assigned to positions with a primary counterintelligence role or to a high-risk, high-threat post. The training must be specific and substantive.
