H.R. 5033 — Safe Temperature Act of 2025

This section requires owners of dwelling units receiving project-based Section 8 housing assistance payments to maintain a comfortable and safe temperature level ranging from 71 degrees to 81 degrees Fahrenheit and authorizes the use of public housing Capital and Operating Funds for the same purpose in public housing units. This section further requires owners of Section 202 supportive housing for the elderly (i.e., capital advances and project rental assistance for very low-income elderly persons) to maintain such temperature levels in each assisted unit.
