H.R. 5055 — Increasing Nutrition Access for Seniors Act of 2025

This section amends the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) as follows: (1) extends maximum household certification periods to 36 months for households with no earned income (previously up to 24 months for households meeting certain conditions, such as all adults elderly or disabled); (2) authorizes states to offer elderly or disabled households a standard monthly medical expense deduction of $155 in FY2026 (indexed annually thereafter to the CPI for Medical Care) upon self-attestation of expenses exceeding $35 (exclusive of special diets), with states permitted to set a higher amount based on evidence of average state costs; and (3) permits states to use data matches in lieu of income verification for households qualifying for 36-month certification periods.

This section establishes an effective date for this Act and its amendments of 180 days after enactment and provides that the amendments do not apply to certification periods beginning before that date.
