H.R. 5201 — Kari's Law Reporting Act

This section directs the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to publish on its website, no later than 180 days after enactment, a report on its enforcement of Kari’s Law (i.e., section 721 of the Communications Act of 1934, which requires multi-line telephone systems to allow direct 911 dialing without a prefix and to provide notification of any required onsite dialing prefix). The report must (1) summarize compliance by multi-line telephone system manufacturers and vendors, (2) identify potential compliance difficulties and obstacles, (3) propose ways to improve FCC enforcement policies if necessary, and (4) recommend further legislation to Congress if necessary.
