H.R. 5219 — Camden National Battlefield Park Study Act

This section directs the Secretary of the Interior to conduct a special resource study of the Camden Battlefield Study Area (i.e., the site of the Battle of Camden fought in South Carolina on August 16, 1780, related Revolutionary War resources, and Historic Camden). The study, conducted in accordance with Section 100507 of Title 54, United States Code—which authorizes Congress to direct studies of areas for potential inclusion in the National Park System—must (1) evaluate the area's national significance; (2) determine suitability and feasibility for designation as a National Park System unit, to be known as Camden National Battlefield Park; (3) identify protection and interpretation methods involving the National Park Service, other federal, state, or local governments, or private/nonprofit entities; (4) assess viability of local partnership management models; and (5) provide federal cost estimates for development, interpretation, operation, and maintenance. The Secretary must consult interested parties and submit a report with results and recommendations to the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources and the House Committee on Natural Resources not later than three years after funds are made available.
