H.R. 5273 — Broadband Competition and Efficient Deployment Act

This section exempts Federal authorizations for covered projects—i.e., collocation, construction, or modification of telecommunications service facilities on eligible support infrastructure (i.e., existing wire communication infrastructure when an authorization request is received by a state or local government or Indian tribe)—from being considered major Federal actions under the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA). It further exempts such covered projects from being considered undertakings under the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA). (Thus, these projects avoid NEPA environmental impact reviews and NHPA Section 106 historic preservation consultations.)
