H.R. 5341 — LOCAL Foods Act of 2025

This section revises the exemption from federal meat inspection requirements under the Federal Meat Inspection Act for personal slaughtering of animals. It expands the exemption to slaughter by any partial or full owner of the animals (from animals of one's own raising), permits owners to prepare or transport carcasses, parts, or meat products exclusively for use by the owner, household, nonpaying guests, or employees (previously limited to the person doing the slaughtering), and requires that owners using an agent maintain custody and specific identification of such products as determined by the Secretary.
