H.R. 5378 — Tribal Healthcare Careers Act

This section reserves 15% of funds appropriated under section 2008(c)(1) of the Social Security Act for grants to Indian tribes, tribal organizations, and Tribal Colleges and Universities. (The funds support demonstration projects providing low-income individuals with education, training, and career advancement in high-demand or shortage-prone health care occupations.)

This section requires the Secretary to award at least 10 grants under SSA §2008(a)(2) to an eligible entity that is an Indian tribe, tribal organization, or Tribal College or University, to the extent sufficient qualified applications are submitted. (These grants support consolidated federal social services funding to states and tribes for goals including economic self-support, preventing neglect or abuse, and community-based care alternatives to institutionalization.)
