H.R. 5409 — Territory Health Revitalization Act

This section reserves 5% of the amounts appropriated under section 2008(c)(1) of the Social Security Act for each fiscal year for grants to States other than the 50 States and the District of Columbia (i.e., territories such as Puerto Rico and Guam) to conduct demonstration projects providing low-income individuals with education, training, and supportive services for high-demand health care occupations.

This section requires the Secretary to award at least two grants under the health professions workforce demonstration program (42 U.S.C. 1397g(a)) to eligible entities located in territories (i.e., Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Northern Mariana Islands), to the extent sufficient qualified applications are submitted. (The program provides low-income individuals with education, training, and supportive services for high-demand health care occupations.)
