H.R. 5410 — Critical Mineral Brine Extraction Research and Development Act

This section directs the Secretary of Energy to support research, development, evaluation, and potential commercialization of technologies for extracting critical minerals from brine and to conduct demonstrations of such technologies in collaboration with private industry to enhance performance and reduce costs. It further requires the Secretary, in coordination with the Secretaries of Commerce and Defense, to submit a report to specified House and Senate committees within one year of enactment assessing the technical and economic feasibility of such technologies, potential barriers to domestic expansion, and options for federal-private partnerships. The section authorizes $2 million for each of FY2026 through FY2030 to carry out these research and development activities.
