H.R. 5522 — Peace Through Strength Act of 2025

This section amends the U.S. Code to replace all instances of "Department of Defense" with "Department of War" and "Secretary of Defense" with "Secretary of War." It further deems any reference to the Department of Defense in laws, rules, regulations, certificates, directives, instructions, or other official papers in effect on the date of enactment to refer to the Department of War (including for subordinate officials, such as Deputy Secretary of War or Under Secretary of War). Implementation is subject to applicable law and the availability of appropriations.
