H.R. 553 — BRAVE Act

This section establishes a patient outreach system under new 38 U.S.C. 1720K under which the Secretary of Veterans Affairs must ensure that veterans enrolled in VA's patient enrollment system (under 38 U.S.C. 1705) who have experienced a traumatic or other highly stressful event may elect to receive information on mental health care services and related resources available to them. The section further directs the Secretary, in administering the system, to coordinate with the Department of Defense's Transition Assistance Program and to establish the system not later than two years after the date of enactment.
