This section requires the Secretary of Defense to notify each TRICARE covered beneficiary (i.e., eligible uniformed service members, retirees, and families) of an impending TRICARE coverage transition requirement (i.e., a required change in program election to maintain coverage, such as due to attaining certain ages under 10 U.S.C. §§1086(d) or 1110b) via electronic means at three specified times prior to the transition: one year, 180 days, and 30 days beforehand. The section further directs the Secretary to conduct an outreach and public awareness campaign (via the TRICARE website, social media, and family readiness groups) and to submit annual reports to the congressional defense committees on implementation, including campaign metrics and recommendations for improvement.
