H.R. 5654 — To provide for interim appropriations for the District of Columbia courts and related agencies with respect to any fiscal year for which appropriations are not otherwise provided for such courts and agencies.

This section establishes authority for interim appropriations, beginning in FY2025, for six specified Federal payments related to District of Columbia courts and justice agencies—(1) to the District of Columbia Courts, (2) for defender services in District of Columbia courts, (3) to the Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency for the District of Columbia, (4) to the District of Columbia Public Defender Service, (5) to the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, and (6) for judicial commissions—if no appropriation is made for such payments in a fiscal year following an appropriation in the prior year. The interim funding is provided at the rate for operations and under the terms and conditions of the previous fiscal year's appropriation from any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated. Upon enactment of a subsequent appropriation or general District of Columbia appropriations bill, interim expenditures are charged to it, and the interim authority ceases.
