H.R. 5718 — SNAP Back Act of 2025

This section expands exemptions from the three-month time limit on SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits for able-bodied adults without dependents (ABAWDs) by adding three new categories: (1) homeless individuals, (2) veterans, and (3) individuals who are 24 years of age or younger and who were in foster care under state responsibility on the date they attained 18 years of age (or a higher age elected by the state under SSA §475(8)(B)(iii)). (Thus, these individuals may receive SNAP benefits without meeting ABAWD work requirements.)
