H.R. 5858 — CATCH IT Act

This section increases the federal share of costs under the Community Facilities Grant Program by 25 percentage points for rural health facilities if the project includes the purchase or upgrade of preventative health care equipment. (As background, the program provides grants to associations, nonprofits, tribes, and public agencies for essential community facilities—such as health care—in rural areas primarily serving farmers, ranchers, rural businesses, and residents.) It defines preventative health care equipment to include (1) advanced breast imaging equipment (i.e., digital breast tomosynthesis or 3D mammography); (2) mobile cancer screening units; (3) laboratory equipment for multi-cancer early detection or diagnostic cancer screening; (4) colorectal cancer screening equipment; (5) computerized tomography scanners; and (6) diagnostic ultrasound equipment.
