H.R. 5896 — GRID Act

This section repeals the standard under §111(d)(21) of the Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act of 1978 (PURPA) relating to electric vehicle charging programs. (Thus, state regulatory authorities and nonregulated electric utilities are no longer required to consider, after public notice and hearing, whether it is appropriate to implement such standard through utility ratemaking.) The section also makes conforming amendments by (1) repealing PURPA §112(b)(8) on time limitations, (2) striking date-specific language in §112(c) on compliance, (3) repealing §112(h) on prior state actions, and (4) striking date-specific language in §124 on prior and pending proceedings.
