H.R. 5923 — Servicemember Credit Monitoring Enhancement Act

This section revises the eligibility definition in FCRA Section 605A(k), which requires nationwide consumer reporting agencies to provide free credit and identity theft monitoring alerts to qualifying consumers, by replacing “active duty military consumer” with “uniformed services member consumer,” defined as a consumer who is a member of the uniformed services (as defined in 10 U.S.C. 101(a)). (Thus, the provision expands eligibility from servicemembers on active duty to all members of the uniformed services, including reservists, National Guard members, and commissioned officers of the NOAA and Public Health Service corps.)
