H.R. 5982 — Veteran Benefits Enhancement Act

This section excludes qualified military benefits (as defined in 26 U.S.C. §134(b), i.e., certain retirement pay and allowances for military service) from the social insurance payments under the Railroad Unemployment Insurance Act that disqualify days from being considered days of unemployment or sickness. (As background, the act provides unemployment, sickness, and maternity benefits to railroad employees; thus, employees receiving such military benefits may now qualify for those days without offset or recovery by the Railroad Retirement Board.)
