H.R. 5997 — Helping Homeless Veterans Act of 2025

This section modifies VA programs assisting homeless veterans and other veterans with special needs as follows: (1) strikes subsection (b) of section 2031, eliminating the termination provision for the treatment for seriously mentally ill and homeless veterans program (thus making it permanent); (2) strikes subsection (c) of section 2041, eliminating the termination provision for the housing assistance for homeless veterans program (thus making it permanent); (3) authorizes $420 million for each fiscal year after FY2026 for financial assistance for supportive services for very low-income veteran families in permanent housing (i.e., Supportive Services for Veteran Families program) under section 2044; (4) makes permanent the grant program for homeless veterans with special needs under section 2061 (from each of FY2007 through FY2024); and (5) strikes subsection (d) of section 2066, eliminating the termination provision for the Advisory Committee on Homeless Veterans (thus making it permanent).
