H.R. 6141 — Fair Access to Justice for Union Members Act

This section removes the requirement that members of labor organizations exhaust reasonable internal hearing procedures (limited to a four-month lapse of time) before instituting legal or administrative proceedings against such organizations or their officers for violations of union members' rights under the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act of 1959 (LMRDA). (The LMRDA establishes a bill of rights for union members, including equal rights, free speech, and protections against improper discipline.) The amendment takes effect 18 months after enactment.
