H.R. 6272 — Early Education Savings Program Act

This section expands the definition of qualified higher education expenses under section 529 of the Internal Revenue Code to include amounts paid for qualified child care provided to a designated beneficiary under age 5. Qualified child care means services provided for compensation on a regular basis by a licensed, regulated, or registered center-based provider, family child care provider, or other provider who is not related to all children served. (Thus, distributions from 529 plans—tax-advantaged savings accounts for postsecondary education expenses—may be made tax-free for such child care expenses paid or incurred after enactment.)
