H.R. 6313 — Military Child and Youth Program Abuse and Neglect Notification Act

This section establishes notification requirements for alleged or suspected child abuse or neglect in covered child and youth programs by adding a new subsection (g) to 10 U.S.C. §1794. The policy to be prescribed by the Secretary of Defense requires such programs to (1) notify the parents or guardians of the affected child not later than 24 hours after becoming aware of the allegation and (2) notify the Senate and House Armed Services Committees, the Senators representing the state where the incident occurred (if in a state), and the relevant House Member, Delegate, or Resident Commissioner not later than 72 hours after such awareness. Covered programs include military child development centers, Department of Defense youth programs, family home day care, and providers of child care services or youth program services receiving financial assistance under 10 U.S.C. §1798.
