H.R. 6380 — Chiricahua National Park Act

This section designates Chiricahua National Monument in Arizona—established by Presidential Proclamation 1692 (54 U.S.C. 320301 note)—as Chiricahua National Park, with boundaries identical to the monument's as generally depicted on map entitled “Chiricahua National Park Proposed Boundary,” numbered 145/156,356, and dated March 2021. It deems all references to the monument as references to the park, makes any funds available for the monument available for the park, and requires the Secretary of the Interior to administer the park in accordance with its establishing proclamations (Proclamations 1692 and 2288) and laws generally applicable to National Park System units.

This section directs the Secretary of the Interior to protect traditional cultural and religious sites in the National Park in accordance with applicable laws (including regulations), including by consulting with Indian tribes. Consistent with the American Indian Religious Freedom Act (42 U.S.C. 1996 et seq.), it requires the Secretary to provide Indian tribe members access to such sites for traditional cultural and customary uses and authorizes temporary closures of specific park areas to general public use upon tribal request, limited to the smallest practicable area for the minimum necessary period. The section defines "Indian Tribe" as in 25 U.S.C. 5304 and "Secretary" as the Secretary of the Interior.
