H.R. 6404 — Hire Student Veterans Act

This section expands the definition of qualified veteran under the work opportunity tax credit (WOTC)—which provides employers a tax credit for wages paid to individuals from targeted groups facing significant barriers to employment—to include veterans attending an educational institution using educational assistance under chapter 30, 31, 32, 33, or 34 of title 38, U.S. Code, or chapter 1606 or 1607 of title 10, U.S. Code. It exempts such veterans from the minimum employment period requirement applicable to other individuals. The changes apply to individuals who begin work for the employer after the date of enactment.
