H.R. 6442 — Supporting Healthy Pregnancy Act

This section requires states, as a condition of their child support enforcement plans under Title IV-D of the Social Security Act, to establish and enforce an obligation for a child's biological father to pay at least 50% of the mother's reasonable out-of-pocket medical expenses (including health insurance premiums, deductibles, cost-sharing, and similar charges) incurred during and associated with the child's pregnancy and delivery, if requested by the mother. It excludes abortion-related expenses from such medical expenses (defining abortion as intentionally killing an unborn child or prematurely terminating a pregnancy, with specified exceptions) and applies the requirement effective January 1 of the first calendar year after enactment, with a delay until the first quarter after the state's first regular legislative session post-enactment if state legislation is required.
