H.R. 6585 — To direct the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to temporarily extend the period during which certain individuals may file claims for medical care under the CHAMPVA program of the Department of Veterans Affairs, and for other purposes.

This section temporarily extends, through September 30, 2027, the period for covered individuals to file claims for retroactively approved medical care under the CHAMPVA program (i.e., medical care for eligible spouses, children, and survivors of certain veterans under 38 U.S.C. §1781, provided in a manner similar to TRICARE) to at least 365 days from the date of notice of such approval. A covered individual is one eligible for CHAMPVA who is also entitled to Medicare Part A hospital insurance benefits. The Secretary of Veterans Affairs must prescribe regulations to implement this requirement.
