H.R. 6620 — To amend the National Flood Insurance Act of 1968 to allow for the consideration of private flood insurance for the purposes of applying continuous coverage requirements, and for other purposes.

This section directs the FEMA Administrator, for purposes of any statutory, regulatory, or administrative continuous coverage requirement (including under National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) section 1307(g)(1)), to deem any period during which a property was covered by either an NFIP policy or private flood insurance—provided such coverage satisfied Flood Disaster Protection Act (FDPA) section 102(a) requirements (42 U.S.C. 4012a(a)) for federally related properties in special flood hazard areas—as a period of continuous coverage. (Thus, properties switching between NFIP and compliant private flood insurance maintain eligibility for NFIP premium discounts or avoid lapse surcharges.)
