No CRS summary available for this bill.
This section directs the Attorney General to establish, not later than one year after enactment, a competitive grant program to award funds to state, territorial, local, or tribal prosecutor's offices for hiring, retaining, and training prosecutors and support staff. Grants require a 75% federal share (waivable based on financial need), prohibit supplanting of non-federal funds, prioritize applications to hire or rehire prosecutors (including those laid off due to budget cuts) and applications from tribal, remote, or rural jurisdictions (as defined in 34 U.S.C. 12291(a)), and mandate performance monitoring and evaluation with potential revocation for noncompliance. The section authorizes $10 million for each of FY2026 through FY2030.
