“To amend title 10, United States Code, to provide fertility treatment under the TRICARE Program.”
No CRS summary available for this bill.
This section establishes fertility-related care coverage under TRICARE Prime and Select for active duty Armed Forces members and their dependents (but not former members), effective for services provided on or after October 1, 2027. Coverage includes infertility diagnosis and treatments such as in vitro fertilization (limited to three completed oocyte retrievals per calendar year and single embryo transfers unless otherwise medically indicated per American Society for Reproductive Medicine guidelines), sperm and egg retrieval and preservation, artificial insemination, transfer of reproductive genetic material, medications, and coordination services; cost-sharing follows existing TRICARE rules with no waiting periods after infertility diagnosis but prohibits Department of Defense funds for preimplantation genetic screening, human cloning, international surrogacy, or artificial womb technology. This section further requires a fertility-related care coordination program, including training and support for community providers on the unique needs of service members and dependents; makes conforming amendments to specify this coverage; and excludes such care for former members and dependents from certain TRICARE contracts.
