H.R. 6805 — Next Generation Nuclear Deployment Act

This section revises the advanced reactor demonstration program by requiring the Secretary of Energy to prioritize testing and development, on at least 10 different sites including one specialized micro-reactor, of advanced reactor designs such as fourth-generation reactors (e.g., sodium-cooled fast reactors, high-temperature gas-cooled reactors, molten salt reactors), small modular reactors and factory-produced reactors up to 500 megawatts of electricity, and specialized micro-reactors up to 10 megawatts for remote locations or specialized applications. The section further authorizes demonstration projects to test and develop such designs on any site regardless of Department of Energy ownership or operation and directs the Secretary to seek cost-sharing arrangements with private industry and research institutions to support this testing and development. (The program demonstrates advanced nuclear reactors for applications including emissions-free power, industrial heat, off-grid supply, and mission-critical power.)
