H.R. 6885 — Veterans Pensions Protection Act of 2025

This section excludes from the calculation of annual income for Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) pensions—needs-based payments to wartime veterans, surviving spouses, and dependent children—reimbursements for medical expenses (including insurance settlements) from accidents, thefts, losses, or casualty losses (not exceeding the costs of medical care provided) and payments for related pain and suffering (including insurance settlements and court-awarded general damages, not exceeding a case-by-case amount determined by the VA Secretary). The amendments take effect 180 days after enactment.
