H.R. 6894 — Increasing Access to Quality Cardiac Rehabilitation Care Act of 2025

This section expands Medicare coverage criteria for cardiac rehabilitation programs (i.e., supervised exercise, education, and risk factor modification for beneficiaries with acute myocardial infarction and other cardiovascular conditions) and pulmonary rehabilitation programs (i.e., similar services for beneficiaries with moderate-to-very severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) by (1) for cardiac rehabilitation, broadening the required setting from a physician's office to the office setting; and (2) for both programs, expanding authority to prescribe exercise and provide physician supervision to physician assistants, nurse practitioners, or clinical nurse specialists (as defined in SSA §1861(aa)(5)) in addition to physicians. The changes apply to items and services furnished on or after the date that is six months after enactment.
