H.R. 6898 — AIRSHIP Act

This section expresses the sense of Congress that airships could contribute to sustainable air cargo transportation, support disaster response and humanitarian aid delivery to inaccessible areas, and enable practical, economical, environmentally friendly airship transportation. It further amends NASA's aeronautics research and development authorities under 51 U.S.C. 40112—(1) in subsection (c), to include airships alongside rotorcraft in the research objective (designated as new paragraph (1)), and to authorize a new competitive grant program (paragraph (2)) available to teams of researchers from universities, industry, and government; and (2) in subsection (e), to include airships alongside fixed-wing vehicles in the research objective (designated as new paragraph (1)), and to authorize the same competitive grant program (paragraph (2)).
