H.R. 6924 — Porch Pirates Act of 2025

This section states the sense of Congress that Congress has the authority to extend to matters left for collection by private or commercial interstate carriers the same protections as matter carried through the country as interstate or foreign commerce.

This section expands the interstate commerce theft statute (18 U.S.C. § 659) to criminalize the embezzlement, theft, unlawful taking, carrying away, or fraudulent obtaining of any package or other article delivered by a private or commercial interstate carrier before the addressee or agent takes physical possession. (Offenders are subject to fines, imprisonment up to 10 years, or both; or up to 3 years if the value is less than $1,000.)
