H.R. 6925 — Kennedy Center Protection Act

This section states congressional findings concerning the history of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, including its establishment as the National Cultural Center in 1958, statutory renaming in 1964 following President Kennedy's death, President Trump's February 7, 2025, announcement of intent to terminate and replace Board members, the Board's December 18, 2025, vote to rename the Center the “Donald J. Trump and John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts,” and Congress's sole statutory authority over such renaming.

This section voids a December 18, 2025, vote by the Board of Trustees of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts to rename the Center the “Donald J. Trump and John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts,” requires removal of any differing signage or identification within one day of enactment, and directs restoration of all changed references in U.S. laws, maps, regulations, documents, and records to the original name. The section further (1) amends the John F. Kennedy Center Act to prohibit the Board from voting on, proposing, or authorizing any future renaming of the Center; and (2) requires the Trustees to submit to Congress, within 30 days of enactment, a report detailing any public or private funds used for the attempted name change.
