This section designates Burma for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) under INA §244(b)(1)(C) (i.e., extraordinary and temporary conditions) for an initial 18-month period beginning November 25, 2025. Eligible Burmese nationals are deemed to meet INA §244(c)(1) requirements, subject to §244(c)(3), if continuously physically present in the United States since the date of enactment, admissible as immigrants (except as provided under §244(c)(2)(A)), not ineligible under §244(c)(2)(B), and registered for TPS as specified by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The section authorizes DHS to grant prior consent for brief temporary travel abroad to such TPS beneficiaries under emergency and extenuating circumstances, with returning aliens inspected as any other TPS holder.
