H.R. 7020 — District of Columbia Courts and Public Defender Service Employment Non-Discrimination Act

This section extends coverage of the District of Columbia Human Rights Act of 1977—which prohibits discrimination in employment and other areas based on protected characteristics—to nonjudicial employees of the District of Columbia courts and employees of the District of Columbia Public Defender Service (PDS), designating those entities as employers under the Act. The section excludes complaints against those entities from separate administrative procedures applicable to District government agencies. Amendments apply to complaints filed on or after the date of enactment.
