H.R. 7030 — Securing Facilities for Mental Health Services Act

This section strikes subparagraph (B) of Section 242(b)(1) of the National Housing Act, which authorizes FHA mortgage insurance for construction or renovation of acute care hospitals (originally limited to nonprofits but expanded to certain for-profits); redesignates subparagraph (C) as subparagraph (B); and makes a conforming punctuation change to subparagraph (A) (i.e., to provide parity in eligibility for nonprofit and for-profit hospitals). The amendments take effect upon expiration of the 9-month period beginning on the date of enactment.

This section directs the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development to submit to Congress, not later than two years after enactment of this Act, a report assessing the results and effectiveness of the expansion of the hospital mortgage insurance program under section 242 of the National Housing Act (i.e., a program providing mortgage insurance for acute care and residential hospitals) made by section 2.
