This section authorizes American Samoa, Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and the United States Virgin Islands to furnish up to two statues each (i.e., of deceased citizens illustrious for historic renown or distinguished civic or military services) for the National Statuary Hall Collection in the U.S. Capitol's former House chamber, in accordance with specifications applicable to states. (1) It amends the definition of "State" in Section 311 of the Legislative Branch Appropriations Act, 2001, to include these five jurisdictions; and (2) directs the Architect of the Capitol to acquire such statues and implement the provision, including on behalf of the Joint Committee on the Library.
