H.R. 7098 — Homeland Threat Response Act

This section expands the Department of Homeland Security's authority under current law to assist, at the request of state or local law enforcement, in violent acts, shootings, and mass killings (i.e., 3 or more killings in a single incident) in places of public use by (1) authorizing deployment of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), in addition to the Secret Service and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and (2) broadening assistance from investigation to response, threat mitigation, resolution, and investigation.
