H.R. 7182 — VOTE Act

This section establishes minimum notification requirements under the Help America Vote Act of 2002 for voters affected by polling place changes in federal elections occurring on or after January 1, 2026. Specifically, it requires states (1) to notify affected registered voters of a new polling place by mail, phone, text, or email no later than 7 days before the election (or make reasonable efforts to allow voting at the prior location if notice is later); (2) to post general notices on state websites, social media, and at prior polling places; (3) in vote-center jurisdictions, to notify all eligible voters of available locations no later than 2 days before early voting begins; and (4) at closed polling places, to post signs (and post online) stating the closure, listing active locations and substitutes, providing directions and contact information, and complying with bilingual requirements of the Voting Rights Act (52 U.S.C. 10503).
