H.R. 7275 — Aviation Weather Safety Improvement Act

This section requires the Secretary of Commerce to coordinate with the Director of the National Weather Service, the FAA Administrator, and exclusive bargaining representatives of FAA air traffic control specialists and NWS employees to ensure adequate staffing of each Center Weather Service Unit (CWSU, i.e., NWS-manned offices colocated at FAA air route traffic control centers that provide aviation-specific weather services). (Thus, this promotes safe and efficient aircraft movement by addressing potential CWSU understaffing.) The section further requires the Secretary to submit implementation reports to the House Committees on Transportation and Infrastructure and Science, Space, and Technology and the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation within 180 days of enactment and annually thereafter.
