H.R. 7413 — HIRE DEA Act

This section establishes direct hire authority for the Attorney General to appoint qualified candidates to covered positions in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) during FY2027 through FY2034, without regard to competitive civil service hiring requirements under 5 U.S.C. chapter 33, subchapter I (except §§ 3303 and 3328), for locations necessary to support the agency's drug trafficking mission. Covered positions include program managers, project managers, criminal investigators/Special Agents (series 1811 or successor), intelligence analysts/Intelligence Research Specialists, forensic specialists, community outreach coordinators, and any other position the Attorney General deems necessary based on emerging drug trafficking trends or threats.
