H.R. 748 — RELIEVE Act

This section expands eligibility for VA reimbursement of emergency treatment furnished at non-VA facilities by waiving the requirement for prior receipt of VA care if the treatment occurs during the 60-day period following a veteran's enrollment in the VA health care system. (As background, 38 U.S.C. §1725 generally reimburses non-enrolled veterans, or enrolled veterans without access to care, for emergency treatment subject to eligibility criteria including prior VA care.) The change applies to emergency treatment furnished on or after the date that is one year after enactment.
